What you can actually personalise
The name. It does not just sit on the cover and page one, it runs through the whole story. Because the text is written around it, any name fits: long, short or hyphenated.
The appearance. You describe the main character, and you can upload a photo. With a photo as reference the illustrations really start to resemble them; how that works is on the page about a personalised children’s book.
Who else appears. Brothers, sisters, parents, grandparents or the pet get a part in the text and in the drawings, not just a mention.
The story. This is the difference with a template book: the story is not fixed. Pick a storyline or write in a few sentences what should happen, and the book is written around that.
The style. Nine illustration styles, from watercolour to 3D. And after that: in the free preview you can rewrite text and have individual illustrations redrawn until it is right.
What is not possible, to be straight about it: we cannot personalise an existing book from another publisher, and we cannot use your own drawing or handwriting as artwork. Everything is made here from what you fill in.

What exactly can I personalise?
The name, the appearance of the main character, who else appears, the story and the illustration style. In the free preview you can then rewrite text and have individual illustrations redrawn.
Do I have to upload a photo?
No. Without a photo the illustrations are made from your description. A photo does make the likeness noticeably stronger, and you can add one later.
Can you personalise an existing book?
No. We make the book from scratch based on what you fill in. An existing book from another publisher cannot be changed.
Can I change things after the book has been made?
Yes, right up until you order. The preview shows the complete book and lets you edit text and illustrations. Only after your approval does it go to print.
How long does personalising take?
Filling in the form takes a few minutes. After that the system makes the book, which takes about half an hour. You get a message as soon as the preview is ready.
Does personalising cost extra?
No. Personalising and viewing the full preview is free; you only pay if you order the printed book.
