Why a bedtime story is written differently
A bedtime book has a job the rest do not: it has to end the day, not start an adventure. That changes how it is written. No chase in the last chapter, no cliffhanger on the final page, and nothing that makes a four-year-old want to know what happens next.
So these stories are deliberately quieter than the others on this site. The problem is small and close to home: a soft toy that has gone missing, a dark room, a dream that keeps coming back, not being tired yet while the whole house is.
The child still solves it, because that is what makes a personalised book work. But the solving is gentle, and the last scene is still. That is the page you want to close the book on.
The illustrations are soft chalk pastel on dark paper, which is why they look like evening rather than daytime. It saves you a decision: the style is already set when you start.
You pick a storyline, fill in the name, and see the book in a free preview, page by page. Only when it is right does it go to print as a premium hardcover of 21 by 21 cm, delivered within eight working days.

Questions about the bedtime book
What age is it for?
The stories work from about two to seven. For toddlers the pictures carry the evening; from about five the plot does, and the child recognises their own name on the page.
How long does it take to read aloud?
About ten minutes. The book has short sentences and plenty of illustration, so it fits the last stretch of the day without turning into a second bedtime.
Is it not too exciting before sleep?
That is exactly what these storylines avoid. The problem is small, the solving is gentle and the last page is deliberately still. If you want an adventure, the other pages on this site have livelier storylines.
Can I add a brother, sister or the soft toy?
Yes. Everyone you enter appears in the story and in the illustrations, including a favourite soft toy if you describe it.
